# Company wins Chasewater Dam repair contract

Repairs to Chasewater Dam have moved a step closer after a Leicestershire company was chosen to carry out the work.

Galliford Try – a business specialising in work such as rail and renewable energy projects – have won the Lichfield District Council contract.

To allow the works to take place, Pool Road, which runs along the top of the dam, will be closed to all users from early October, including cars, horse riders, cyclists and pedestrians.

Cllr Val Richards, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure Services, added:

> “We carried out a thorough recruitment process to ensure we selected the right contractor for these vital improvements. We are looking forward to working with the team from Galliford Try.

> “We expect the repairs to start in October and to be completed by late spring, and will continue to update the dam blog throughout the works to make sure everyone knows what is happening on site. I’d like to thank all users of the country park for their patience during the works.”

Gary Young, managing director of Galliford Try, added:

> “We are thrilled to have been successful in our tender for this contract and are looking forward to bringing our significant experience and knowledge in this area, to repair such an important part of the region’s infrastructure.”
