# Confirmation bus services will continue to serve villages until next year at least is welcomed by Lichfield MP

LICHFIELD's MP has welcomed confirmation that a bus service will serve local villages until next year at least.

Diamond Bus had previously proposed stopping the 12 and 12E routes from calling at Kings Bromley and Yoxall.

But after concerns were raised by residents, the operator confirmed the current timetable will stay in place while it considers the future of the service.

It had initially been expected to cease serving the two villages in November, but bosses say no changes will now be made until at least February 2027.

The confirmation came following a meeting between Dave Robertson MP and representatives from Diamond Bus's parent company Rotala.

The Labour MP said:

> "I am pleased that Diamond Bus has confirmed that the 12 and 12E will continue to serve Kings Bromley and Yoxall for a further three months.

> "I know how important these services are to residents, particularly those who rely on the bus to get to work, appointments, shops and other local services.

> "This extension provides some welcome certainty and a short reprieve for residents in both villages. However, it's clear that a sustainable long-term solution needs to be found – and I am encouraged that there is a real willingness to work together to achieve that.

> "I had a very positive meeting with Diamond Bus and I was encouraged by their clear commitment to making this route work.

> "They are exploring every possible option to continue supporting the service and the communities it serves, and are keen to work collaboratively with me, other local stakeholders and, crucially, Staffordshire County Council."

Diamond Bus has previously cited low passenger numbers along parts of the route making it unviable in the long-term.

Simon Dunn, CEO of Rotala – the parent company of Diamond Bus – said:
