St Giles Hospice says the technology – which features [a voiceover by Sir David Attenborough](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2017/09/14/sir-david-attenborough-to-provide-voice-for-new-st-giles-hospice-virtual-reality-pain-management-app/) –
is designed to help people deal with pain.

Christopher Pincher, Conservative MP for Tamworth, donned the VR headset to explore a woodland path and learn about how the system works.

“This is a remarkable piece of kit,” he said. “If it helps people to feel less pain and take fewer drugs – some of which can have unhappy side-effects – then their quality of life in what are perhaps the last few weeks of their life is made much better.

“I am very impressed that CEO Emma Hodges and her team persuaded Sir David to help. Everyone will recognise his voice and he does a great job in relaxing the listener.”
