PLANS to ensure roadworks are “less disruptive” have been unveiled by Staffordshire County Council.

The Reform UK cabinet will discuss the new Traffic and Network Management Plan at a meeting next week.

It will include proposals to work closely with utility companies and neighbouring authorities to ensure roadworks are better co-ordinated.

The new strategy comes after the county council opted to pause non-essential repairs last year in a bid to minimise disruption – [a move that was branded “baffling”](https://mymidlands.co.uk/events/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) by the opposition Conservative group.

Cllr Peter Mason, cabinet member for strategic highways, said the plans would also support wider efforts to create a more reliable public transport system”

> “Keeping the county moving is vital for our residents, businesses and communities. This plan sets out how we will manage and coordinate roadworks effectively, working closely with utility companies and neighbouring councils to reduce disruption wherever possible.”

The plan will be discussed at Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet on 15th April.
