# Couple airlifted to hospital after historic car crashes near Lichfield

A man and a woman have been injured in a crash on the A38 near Lichfield.

The Midlands Air Ambulance and the Rutland Air Ambulance were called to the accident at Wychnor Bridges at 1.40pm on Saturday (July 2).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said:

> “The couple were in an historic car which was in collision with another, more modern car. The older car overturned. The driver, a man in his fifties and his passenger, a woman in her fifties, both had head injuries. The woman had severe cuts to her head which were dressed at scene.

> “Both were immobilised with the use of spinal boards and neck collars and both were flown to hospital; the man was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire, the woman was flown to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.”
