A DESIGNER behind a vision for the future of Burntwood town centre says he hopes his work can help inspire plans to enhance the area.

Michael Harvey, founder of [Studio11](https://studio11arch.myportfolio.com/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk), has provided new visuals showcasing how the Sankey's Corner shopping centre could be revitalised.

He said the designs were developed as part of a personal "passion project" after seeing discussions around the Burntwood Masterplan.

Michael said:

> "As a Burntwood resident, I saw the visuals that were being used to promote the project and I felt that they were not good, so decided to embark on my own project to improve the vision and create a better centre for Burntwood.
>
> "This project actually started off as a passion project for myself. I have sketched, reviewed public feedback and finalised the whole design to provide hope and inspiration for Burntwood."

Michael's designs have been championed online by Cllr Andrew Clissett.

The Reform UK representative for Burntwood North at Staffordshire County Council said:

> "We’ve talked a lot about the potential, the frustrations and what Sankey's Corner could look like if the private landowners stepped up and invested in our community.
>
> "Michael has dedicated several weeks of hard work to bring this independent, volunteer-led vision to life."

Michael said that his design looked at how the "run-down" centre could be revitalised.

> "The concept showcases an optimistic vision for Sankey's Corner.
>
> "It aims to build on the innovative ideas for the sustainable redevelopment of Burntwood Shopping Centre presented in the Burntwood Development Masterplan, while promoting a healthier, more natural and socially sustainable heart to the consistently growing town of Burntwood.
>
> "The concept aims to revitalise the area through low-impact solutions such as an upgraded facade, polycarbonate canopies to allow more light into walkways and frontages, and various forms of soft landscaping.
>
> "Overarching themes reference the town's local mining history through a decorative minecart track and a new mural references local Chasewater Railway Station.
>
> "The introduction of new landscaped areas, tree planting, and minecart-style planters brings much-needed greenery to the area, aiming to create a better place for people to socialise and a more visually appealing heart to the town."
