# Developer's consultation on plans for new homes on land in Burntwood set to end

TIME is running out for residents to submit feedback on plans for 350 homes in Burntwood.

Housebuilder Miller Homes is currently consulting on proposals for land north of Lichfield Road.

The site is currently located in the green belt, but the developer said that it would meet the definition of grey belt land, meaning the development would not be considered inappropriate.

It is planned that 50% of the homes on the site would be classified as affordable.

The proposed access to the site will come from Lichfield Road and Farewell Lane.

Miller Homes states that Lichfield District Council is currently unable to demonstrate a five-year housing land supply. This means there is a presumption in favour of sustainable development, with planning permission expected to be granted unless harm clearly outweighs the benefits.

Recent changes in national planning policy increased the district’s housing target to 746 new homes per year, while the site was included in the now-abandoned Local Plan, which concluded that it was available for development.

The developer states:

> "Miller Homes is preparing an outline planning application with all matters reserved except access for up to 350 homes on land north of Lichfield Road.

> "The development will be shaped by green infrastructure, new open spaces, and walking and cycling connections that help integrate the site with the existing community."

Residents have until 9th August to provide comments on the proposals, which will be used to refine the plans before a full application is submitted later this year.
