# Early strike cancelled out as Chasetown draw at Runcorn Linnets

CHASETOWN were forced to settle for a point after being pegged back on the road at Runcorn Linnets.

The Scholars got off to a perfect start when they went in front with just six minutes on the clock. Matt Hearsey's delivery picked out Ethan Patterson who made no mistake with the finish.

But a quickfire opening continued as Runcorn levelled things up four minutes later when Lewis Buckley netted after Elliott Morris' fine delivery.

The hosts thought they'd gone in front after 15 minutes when Matty Whittingham broke away and netted, but the assistant's flag ruled it out for offside.

The second period saw little in the way of clear-cut chances in the opening exchanges with Ollie Southern's corner almost dropping in for Runcorn after an hour, the closest either side came to adding a second.

Conor Harwood fired over for the hosts with 10 minutes to go, but a blank second half meant the spoils were shared.
