PLANS for an energy storage system to be installed in Fradley have been rejected.

The development had been proposed for land on the corner of Wood End Lane and Gorse Lane.

The Battery Box system is designed to import electricity from the grid when demand is low and then release it back during periods of high demand.

A planning statement said:

> "This provides a solution to the growing need for network flexibility and helps address grid reliability issues prompted by an increase of intermittent – wind and solar – generation on the electricity system."

But the plans have been rejected due to "insufficient" information being provided on the potential impact the development might have on the local road network.
