The firm was founded in 1946 by Walsall architect Jack Ballinger following his military service. It later expanded to Lichfield where a number of landmark buildings have been part of its portfolio in the heritage, commercial and residential sectors.

Joint managing director Adrian Mathias said:

> "It was important for us to celebrate 80 years of BHB Architects with our current team, clients, consultants and local contractors.
>
> "We enjoyed showing the vast range of projects we have completed in Lichfield and throughout England in a building that we have helped to bring into a successful community use.
>
> "We look forward to the next decade, designing and managing positive change throughout the area."
