# Event set to light up Lichfield to raise funds for St Giles Hospice

A NEW event is set to light up Lichfield this summer to raise money for St Giles Hospice.

The Whittington-based charity is hosting its first ever Light Up the Night initiative on 27th June.

The hospice hopes to attract more than 1,000 walkers to join them for an 8km route through the city.

Sam Colclough, senior events officer at St Giles Hospice, said:

> “We are incredibly excited to bring Light the Night to Lichfield.

> “We wanted to create something fun and vibrant that people will look forward to and bring our wonderful community together.

> “Every sign up and step taken will help us continue to provide vital care to local people, and their loved ones, when they need it most.”

The event is open to people aged 16 and over for the evening of fun, live music and entertainment from 7pm, with the walk heading out at 9pm from Lichfield Sports Club.

Entertainment on the night will include a live performance from The Forgery and local singer Becca Gee.

The hospice is also looking for volunteers to help support the event.

Sam added:
