The Staffordshire Regiment Museum will welcome Adrian Stevenson as part of a Hansons Auctioneers event on September 8.

In recent months, several of his finds have made national news including a bar brooch featuring medals awarded to Battle of Waterloo hero Lieutenant-General Rowland Hill, a British Army officer who served in the Napoleonic Wars under Wellington.

“When I realised the bar brooch’s significance I was amazed,” said Mr Stevenson. “It was an honour to hold a badge which belonged to a legendary commander.

“As someone who is passionately interested in war history, it was a special moment for me.”

The bar brooch sold for £7,800 at auction, while another militaria find which sparked a wave of national interest and featured on television was the Boer War Collection, a precious mixture of mementos and photographs which belonged to Robert Oliver who fought in the conflict.

It sold for £4,000 at Hansons Auctioneers, smashing its original guide price of £400 to £600.

Mr Stevenson said: “We had huge interest at both a national and international level in this wartime collection, which was nearly 120 years old.”

The valuation day at the Staffordshire Regiment Museum from 10am to 2pm on September 8.
