HOME bakers are being invited to put their skills to the test to raise funds for charity.

Co-working and office space Shire House, on Birmingham Road, is hosting its first Bake Off event in aid of St Giles Hospice, bringing together tenants, co-workers and the wider community for a friendly battle to be crowned Master Baker.

A judging panel featuring chef Liam Dillon from Michelin-starred The Boat and Italian deli owner Alison Ranwell from Mangia Mangia will cast their expert eye over the entries on 22nd September.

Amanda Watson, operations director at Shire House, said:

> "We’ve always wanted Shire House to be much more than somewhere people simply come to work. It’s about creating a community, bringing people together and finding different ways to support the city we’re part of.
>
> "Raising money for charity in unique and interesting ways is very much part of our personality, and the Bake Off gives us an opportunity to involve our tenants and co-workers while also giving a select number of others the chance to compete.
>
> "With Liam and Alison judging, we’re certainly not making it easy for our bakers.
>
> "We know there are some incredibly talented people in and around Lichfield, so we’re looking forward to seeing what they create and hopefully raising a great amount for St Giles Hospice at the same time."

Following the judging, slices of the entered bakes will be offered for sale, with proceeds going to St Giles Hospice.
