# Fashion in focus at green fair in Whittington

Green fashion will take centre stage at Whittington’s annual Big Green Fair event.

With more than 1,500 people attending last time around, organisers have arranged a number of events at Whittington Village Hall from 10am to 4pm on April 16.

Green fashion will be key to the event with a parade along Main Street at 10am and a fashion show at 12noon, featuring clothes made from recycled materials by youngsters from Whittington School and Whittington No.1 Brownies.

Fashion student Demi Harvey and members of [Whittington and Fisherwick Environment Group](http://www.wfeg.org.uk/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) (WFEG) have been working with the children to make the clothes in a series of workshops over recent weeks.

Felt-maker Lisa Olson from Tigerlily Makes will also be on hand to demonstrating how brilliant fashion accessories can be created with recycled materials.

WFEG Vice-Chair Debbie Barnish said:

> “Previously the Green Fairs have been held in February for funding reasons and we have battled with snow and ice, but this year it is in April which will mean we can combine it with our first outdoor food market of the year and have lots of great activities like the green fashion parade.”

Another new feature for this year will be the presence of two hybrid Toyota cars showing off the latest in low carbon transport, while there will also be a chance for visitors to talk to a range of home renewable energy installers, covering solar panels and air and ground-source heat pumps.
