New figures reveal that 200,000 meals have been supplied by the Lichfield Foodbank in the past three years.

The numbers come after the Trussell Trust released a national report outlining [the continued rise of people using foodbanks across the UK](https://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/apr/25/food-banks-report-record-demand-amid-universal-credit-chaos?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk).

A spokesperson for the Lichfield Foodbank said the figures highlighted the need for people to continue supporting the facility, which is based at Wade Street Church.

“While we appreciate that the equivalent of 200,000 meals is 200,000 too many, we are thankful that we are able to help everyone who turns to us in need,” they said. “Our work is only made possible through continued support and donations.

“It is a wonderful thing to know that so many people volunteer their time or donate to help local people in crisis – and we are so grateful that people recognise our food bank as a worthy cause.”
