A LICHFIELD fitness instructor is celebrating a decade of helping older people stay active.

Cat Stuart has been running Move It or Lose It sessions across the local area.

The classes help older residents aged from 60 upwards to improve their strength, mobility, balance and confidence.

Cat said:

> "When I started 10 years ago, I never realised that this was the best job in the world. Every day I get to exercise to music with my clients, whose ages range from their early 60s to people in their 90s.
>
> "Seeing people's strength and balance improve is incredibly rewarding, but one of the most special parts of my job is welcoming members back after joint replacement surgery and watching them regain their mobility, confidence and independence.
>
> "The health benefits are wonderful, but I've also seen lasting friendships blossom and an amazing sense of community develop. Everyone is so supportive and friendly, creating a warm and welcoming environment where new members are quickly made to feel part of the family. It's a privilege to be part of that."

Cat said the anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate a decade of teaching, but also to highlight some of the 'remarkable' people she has met along the way.

> "Many people come because they want to improve their fitness – and they stay because of the laughter, the friendships and the feeling of belonging.
>
> "Watching people support each other, celebrate each other's achievements and enjoy being active together is what makes this such a wonderful job.
>
> "You don't have to be fit to start – you just have to start. The hardest part is walking through the door for the first time. We'll make sure you're welcomed with a smile."
