People are being given the chance to wake up to wildlife at Fradley Junction.

British Waterways is hosting an event on May 6 where visitors will be able to celebrate [International Dawn Chorus Day](http://www.idcd.info/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) on a free guided walk.

Participants will learn how to identify the early morning calls of birds such as blackbirds, robins, thrushes and warblers.

Walk leader Stuart Collins said: “The Midlands’ canals, rivers and reservoirs are home to a fantastic array of wildlife and it’s fascinating to see how they come to life long before we venture from our beds. The dawn chorus is one of the most magnificent experiences in nature yet too few of us actually get to hear it.

“It’s well worth doing something different, sacrificing the usual lie-in and learning more about the many different species of birds that can be appreciated at their best in the early hours.”

The group will meet in the Fradley Junction car park on May 6 at 4.15am for a 4.30am start. Booking is essential – for more details contact Stuart Collins on 01827 252000 or e-mail [Stuart.Collins2@britishwaterways.co.uk](mailto:Stuart.Collins2@britishwaterways.co.uk).
