A Lichfield mum has lost her battle with bowel cancer.

Katie Scarborough’s fight had been documented on her blog and through [her charity appeal](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2013/03/19/lichfield-mum-with-weeks-to-live-launches-cancer-charity-appeal/).

However, a [post on her website titled ‘Skating in heaven’](http://www.katiescarbrough.co.uk/2013/05/02/skating-in-heaven/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) yesterday (May 2) revealed that the Fradley mum of two had died in the early hours of the morning.

Described as “brave, inspiring and beautiful”, Katie leaves behind her husband Scott and children Sophie and Sam.

The former ice skating champion launched her charity appeal to help raise awareness and funds for [Cancer Research UK](http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/home/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) in March.

At the time, she said: ““There are times when I cry uncontrollably and I think I’ve done something wrong but I have to find something else to focus on.

“I need to stay as normal as possible for my kids and myself.

“I really want something positive to come out of me having cancer so, if I can raise money for charity or make someone go to the doctor with symptoms, then that’s what I want to do.”
