A SEESAW final 15 minutes saw Chasetown fall to a 4-3 home defeat against Prescot Cables.

The opener came after a quarter of an hour as a quick break from the Scholars saw Matt Hearsey slot home past keeper Tony Thompson.

The Chasetown man thought he'd added a second not long after, but his effort was ruled out for a foul.

Prescot pushed for a leveller as the half wore on and they eventually got their reward five minutes before the break as Jake Burton fired into the net.

The Scholars restored their lead early in the second period though as Dylan Thomas' ball into the area saw Thompson get a hand to it, but the unfortunate keeper's touch turned the ball into his own net.

The visitors levelled things up with 15 minutes left courtesy of a Tony Donaldson strike – and sparked a rollercoaster finish to the game as Prescot went ahead a minute later when James Foley made it 3-2.

Things looked to be all wrapped up five minutes from time as John Murphy made it 4-2.

Chasetown threw themselves a lifeline seconds later as Thomas reduced the deficit, but despite four minutes of stoppage time the Scholars couldn't find an equaliser as they were forced to settle for a defeat at home.
