# Groups come together to help clean-up Boney Hay

Boney Hay has been given a clean-up after an event involving Burntwood groups.

The Big Tidy event, run through the Forward Action Burntwood partnership, took place on April 8 and saw four skips were put out for people to fill up with all their bulky waste.

Residents and local agencies then came together to take part in a litter pick in the area.

Councillor Helen Fisher, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, said:

> “I was keen to roll up my sleeves to take part in the litter pick. We collected 15 bags of rubbish and local people filled four skips with larger items. The area looked much tidier after all our hard work. This was a wonderful example of the local community and agencies coming together to take part in an event to make the area better for everyone.

> “However, it is a shame that these clean ups are needed in the first place, and I would like to urge people to take pride in their community and always dispose of their rubbish in a bin.”

Organisations involved included Lichfield District Council, Staffordshire Police, Staffordshire Fire Service, HomeZone Living, Community & Learning Partnership and Lichfield and District Community Voluntary Service.
