STUDENTS at a local school have been given a helping hand to stay fit thanks to a donation of fitness equipment.

The two treadmills, one cross trainer and one upright bike were handed over to Chase Terrace Academy by Pulse Fitness, the supplier of gym equipment at Burntwood Leisure Centre and Lichfield Leisure Centre.

It was part of Lichfield District Council’s Our Community Can initiative, which ensures contractors and partners deliver community benefit alongside major projects.

Cllr Rob Strachan, cabinet member for finance and commissioning at the local authority, said:

> “We’re really pleased to see another example of Our Community Can in action.
>
> “This donation will make a real difference to young people locally and shows what can be achieved when partners work with us to give back to the community.”

Jamie Barter, head of PE at Chase Terrace Academy, said:

> “We are delighted and incredibly grateful to Pulse Fitness and Lichfield District Council for their donation and support in securing additional equipment for our fitness suite.
>
> “Fitness and health are core in our aims of ensuring the students here at Chase Terrace Academy lead healthy, active lifestyles.
>
> “Our fitness suite is used every PE lesson and is available for students and staff to use at lunch and after school, therefore it’s crucial we have a fully functional fitness suite that helps engage our students and allows them to achieve their fitness goals.””
