Health centres in Burntwood are “under considerable stress” according to a new report.

Plans for a combined site have stalled and local county councillor Sue Woodward [claimed earlier this year](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2013/07/22/councillor-says-burntwood-residents-left-in-the-dark-over-new-health-centre/) that residents were being “left in the dark”.

Now [a report to Lichfield District Council](http://www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/download/meetings/id/5962/agenda%5Fitem%5F8%5Freport%5Fof%5Fthe%5Fchairman%5Fof%5Fcommunity%5Fhousing%5Fand%5Fhealth%5Foverrview%5Fand%5Fscrutiny%5Fcommittee?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) has revealed there is still no movement on the project.

“The health overview and scrutiny committee received an update on the progress of the Burntwood Health Centres and it was reported that there had been no real change,” the report said.

“It was reported that discussions were continuing with the practices which had an interest in a health centre at Greenwood House site.

“Members noted that the current practices were under considerable stress and urgent action was required to remedy this situation.”

With the delays on the construction of a new health centre, talks are now taking place with NHS England over an extension of the lease on the temporary Health and Wellbeing Centre at Burntwood Leisure Centre.

The report added: “Unfortunately, progress on this development appears to have been hampered by the recent NHS reorganisation and ongoing pressure on NHS resources.”

The report will be discussed at a meeting of the Full Council on Tuesday (April 8).
