Good Hope Hospital, part of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, is proud to be part of a new global initiative to drive international improvement in Stroke and gastrointestinal surgery.

The work will involve 30 of the leading medical institutions across Europe and the USA sharing comparative data on outcomes for stroke victims and patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery.

Dr Mark Newbold, Heart of England Chief Executive said:

The project, launched by health informatics company, Dr Foster Intelligence, will commence with a focus on outcomes for Stroke victims and patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery. For the first time, it will be possible to accurately analyze variations in working practices with the aim of improving care, efficiencies and patient pathways.

The benchmarking system will allow near real-time analysis of hospital outcome data from around the world, a commonly discussed necessity that, until now, has not been possible due to technical complexity. The medical institutions’ measures will include mortality, readmissions and length of stay, key indicators for patient outcomes.
