PROPOSALS have been drawn up for 130 new homes in Mile Oak if plans are approved.

The development has been earmarked for a plot adjacent to the Sir Robert Peel Hospital on Plantation Lane.

The proposals would also see the construction of an 80-bed care home.

A planning statement said:

> “It is proposed that the development could be arranged in a perimeter structure to provide a cohesive design approach.
>
> “It is anticipated that the built form will be predominantly two-storey across the site, with pockets of higher-density housing in the form of apartments, ranging in height from three to four storeys.
>
> “Corner buildings will be incorporated where appropriate to maintain active frontages and provide gateway elements to the scheme.
>
> “In terms of housing provision, 43% of all the dwellings would be affordable. The precise portions of social rented and shared ownership will be agreed with Lichfield District Council.”

Access to the site would be via a new junction on Watling Street.
