A housing association has submitted a planning application that could see 54 new homes built on land in Burntwood.

Bromford hopes to build on the site of a former children’s and social services centre off Sycamore Road.

Buildings on the land were demolished in 2019 with a deal [agreed by Staffordshire County Council to sell the 3.3acre site to the housing association last year](https://lichfieldlive.co.uk/site-of-former-school-and-adult-day-care-centre-in-burntwood-sold-to-housing-association/), but if the scheme is given the go-ahead it would see all of the new properties earmarked as affordable homes.

A planning statement said a consultation with locals had taken place in February, with a public event being held at Burntwood Library in March.

The consultation saw changes including a switch to two cul-de-sacs – one from Sycamore Road and the other from Maple Close, as well as amending the layout to avoid issues relating to anti-social behaviour concerns.

The development would see a mix of one, two, three and four bedroom properties.
