Hundreds of women have helped to raise £90,000 for charity at a night-time event in Lichfield.

The St Giles Hospice Solstice Walk took place last weekend and saw more than 800 women – many wearing fairy-themed fancy dress – hit the streets of the city centre.

Helen Relihan, Head of Fundraising for the charity, said: “The atmosphere on Saturday evening was incredible – it was humbling to see so many of our supporters taking part, and all with big smiles on their faces.

“On behalf of St Giles, I would like express my gratitude to everybody who took part in the Solstice Walk, their generous sponsors and all the volunteers and marshals who gave up their time to help out on the night.”

The money raised from this year’s Solstice Walk means the event has now generated more than £700,000 for hospice care since it was established in 2007.
