Police are trying to find thieves who took 180 chickens from a farm near Lichfield.

The crime was discovered at around 8am on Saturday (November 7) at Willow Wharf Farm in Daisy Lane, Alrewas.

The Warren hybrid chickens, worth around £2,000 in total, were stolen from sheds at the farm along with a red Lincoln 3.1kw generator.

A police spokesman said a large vehicle would have been needed to steal the chickens, which produced free-range eggs at the farm.

The owners are offering a reward of £300 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the offenders.

Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area on Friday night, or in the early hours of Saturday, should ring Burntwood Police on 0300 123 4455 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111\. The incident number is 238 of 7 November.
