A new Remembrance Centre will open next autumn and will feature an exhibition on what remembrance means to individuals, families and the wider society.

Artist Helen Marshall – known for her work to create art from individual photographs – will be tasked with creating the new artwork.

Sarah Montgomery, managing director of the National Memorial Arboretum, said: “With more than 300 memorials set in 150 acres, the Arboretum is a wonderful, visual tribute to those who have served and continue to serve our nation.

“It is, however, people and their memories and associations that make the Arboretum such a special place. It is this that we hope to convey through this extraordinary artwork, which will tell thousands of stories.”

Images can be [submitted online](http://thepeoplespicture.com/nma/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) until April 2016, with pictures that tell a story of remembrance or ones taken at the Arboretum being sought.

Around 5,000 photographs, included some from the Alrewas centre’s archive, will then make up the four-metre wide artwork, which visitors will be able to zoom in on to see individual pictures.
