A depleted Lichfield City FC once again found a struggling side a tough nut to crack.

The Brownsfield Park side had to come from behind to take a point at Pilkington XXX. It’s the fifth time this season that they have failed to take maximum points from a side in the bottom three.

But manager Paul Holt will still be able to take plenty of positives as his squad saw six first team regulars ruled out through injury. It meant a 18-year-old youth team player Dan Murdoch was handed a debut in a much-changed side.

Despite the reshuffle, City started well enough as Ahmet Bilgimer headed narrowly over after good work from Kieron Mortiboys.

Chris Milner, making his first start in over a year due to injury, also headed over when he should have done better.

But Lichfield were given an early warning of what was to come as the lively Demetri Brown sprung the offside trap only for Craig Johnson to smother his effort.

The City stopper was not so fortunate on the half hour mark as Brown cooly took it round him to put the hosts in front.

The second half saw the visitors pour forward and spurn two glorious opportunities to equalise. Skipper Todd Perry somehow fired wide from barely two yards, before Dominic Coulson volleyed wide with an open goal at his mercy just two minutes later.

But Lichfield’s persistence paid off 15 minutes from the end as Biligmer scored his first goal in City colours when he rifled home a first time shot after good approach work involving Kyle Minto and the excellent Murdoch.

Milner headed over again as the visitors looked for the winner, but they had Johnson to thank for a share of the points as he superbly tipped a Connor Mooney shot round the post in the dying seconds.
