# James Lawson strike gives Lichfield City FC all three points

Lichfield City finally returned to winning ways as they saw off the challenge of Coventry Copsewood.

A fast and furious first 15 minutes saw City create two great chances, but Jacob Snape and James Lawson both failed to test the keeper.

Another chance fell Lichfield’s way when Jon Huckfield had a free header from a corner on 35 minutes, only to see his effort cleared off the line.

The second half saw City continue to pile on the pressure and this time they made it count as Lawson volleyed home from six yards out after a corner on 50 minutes.

Lichfield had a chance to double their advantage, but Danny Thurstance fired wide from 18 yards.

Copsewood’s only real chance of note came five minutes before the end, but a good chance was sent wide from ten yards out.

Snape had a chance to kill off the game three minutes from time, but somehow failed to tuck the ball into an open net from six yards out.

However, his miss didn’t prove crucial as City saw out the game.
