A John Thompson strike earned Barton United a point as they failed to close the gap on the Midland Combination Division Two’s leading pack.

Their 1-1 draw at Coventry Spires leaves United in sixth place, three points adrift of Polesworth – who have played a game less – in fifth.

Barton return to action on Saturday (April 13) when they entertain FC Stratford.
