SUB Karen Clough hit a second half hat-trick to help send Chasetown Women through to the next round of the county cup.

The Scholars saw off local rivals Walsall Wood 5-2 to progress.

Katie Holmes opened the scoring after a quarter of an hour, but the hosts levelled when Jodie Jones netted after 30 minutes.

The introduction of Clough at half time proved to be pivotal as she hit two in five minutes to swing the tie in The Scholars’ favour.

Kyrie Ball made it 4-1 before Sophie Rowlands pulled one back for Walsall Wood eight minutes from time.

But Clough wrapped up the victory for Chasetown with a strike a minute from time to seal her hat-trick.
