A LOCAL karting star made an encouraging start 2026 as he claimed second place in the TKC Winter Cup at Whilton Mill.

Cold weather across the racing weekend saw Finlay Lines face challenging conditions, but he managed to show competitive pace from the off.

Across the heats, the Lichfield youngster delivered a series of mature and measured drives, avoiding incidents and consistently ran at the sharp end of the field.

He saved his strongest performance of the weekend for the final where he stayed in the leading pack throughout to take second spot.

Lines said:
