# KFC plans new outlet in Lichfield

Kentucky Fried Chicken have confirmed that it is planning to open a new restaurant in Lichfield.

The news comes after rumour locally suggested that a pub site on the outskirts of the city is the likely site of a new [KFC](http://www.kfc.co.uk/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk).

The fast-food company has already announced [plans to create around 9,000 jobs](http://www.kfc.co.uk/about-kfc/news-and-pr/1027/kfc-to-open-200-300-new-restaurants/?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) across the UK and Ireland as part of their expansion plans.

The company refused to confirm the exact location of a potential new outlet, but did confirm to The Lichfield Blog that they are looking at a number of sites across the city.

A spokesman for KFC said:

> “Due to popular demand in the area, we can confirm that we are looking at a number of potential sites in Lichfield. To date, no decision has been made, so we can’t provide further detail at this stage.”
