Ticket prices can be far higher in the city than at nearby cross-city line stations, because the district sits outside of the Centro area.

Cllr Ben Rayner, Conservative representative for Alrewas and Fradley, [believes the combined authority talks are the ideal opportunity to improve things](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2015/09/11/call-for-fairer-ticket-prices-for-lichfield-train-passengers/) for Lichfield passengers – and Cllr Diane Evans, who represents Boney Hay and Central for Labour, says the area’s commuters deserve a fairer deal.

Cllr Diane Evans

“Of course fares should be reduced,” she said. “They shouldn’t be as high as they are currently for Lichfield commuters.

“It is ridiculous that Rugeley is in the Centro area and Lichfield isn’t. People in the district can currently travel a few miles down the road and get cheaper tickets.

“Lichfield is a commuter city, we need to recognise that a lot of our residents work in Birmingham.”
