The leader of Lichfield District Council says the number of councillors now holding positions on Staffordshire County Council as well will help deliver the best deal for people in Lichfield and Burntwood.

The Conservatives now have Cllr Helen Fisher, Cllr Natasha Pullen, Cllr Colin Greatorex, Cllr Alan White, Cllr Janet England and Cllr Martyn Tittley sitting on both authorities, while Labour’s Cllr Sue Woodward also holds dual roles.

A number of those also hold parish council roles, but Cllr Mike Wilcox, leader of Lichfield District Council, insisted the list meant residents would be well positioned throughout the local political spectrum.

“I welcome the newly-elected members at Staffordshire County Council,” he said. “It gives us a real opportunity to ensure local issues are heard at county level.

“Good communications between different levels is vital to delivering effective local government.”
