# Library to host storytelling session in Burntwood

CHILDREN are being invited to join a storytelling session in Burntwood.

The New Vic Theatre’s Dr Dolittle will be at the town’s library for a special performance at 2pm on 13th August.

The event, aimed at children aged four and over, is part of Staffordshire County Council’s summer reading challenge which aims to encourage youngsters to enjoy books.

Dr Dolittle will invite youngsters to step into the world of the wild and set said with the title character and his friends as they explore new lands and help animals in need.

The 35-minute performance uses puppets and audience interaction.

Cllr Hayley Coles, cabinet member for culture and communities at Staffordshire County Council, said:

> “We are delighted to be hosting the New Vic Theatre’s wonderful story adventure across our libraries this summer.

> “This is a fantastic opportunity for families to come and enjoy the magic and adventure of Dr Dolittle and become part of the story too.

> “It fits perfectly with this year’s summer reading challenge and I hope the show encourages children to get involved and spark a love for stories through visiting their local libraries.”

Becky Salt, director and producer of Dr Dolittle, said:

> “This production invites families to interact with stories in a hands-on, imaginative way.

> “It’s a wonderful opportunity to encourage children and their grown-ups to visit their local library, connect through creativity and embark on a magical journey of adventure together.”

The show is free to attend but spaces must be booked by contacting the library direct.
