# Lichfield Rock Choir support Cancer Research fundraising event

MEMBERS of the Lichfield Rock Choir have supported a fundraising event that saw more than £162,000 raised for Cancer Research.

The group was joined by colleagues from other choirs in the Midlands for the Shine Night Walk in Birmingham.

They appeared at various points along the 10km route in the second city to cheer on participants.

Rock Choir leader Sonia Eyre said:

> "The atmosphere was just lovely. We clapped for the walkers as they went past and they thanked us for the support.

> "So many people are affected by cancer so it was heartwarming to give something back."

Laura Wickens, senior area event manager at Cancer Research, added:

> "Rock Choir helped make the event a wonderful success for every single one of our participants.

> "The choir’s flexibility and willingness to get truly stuck in made a world of difference."
