A local charity is raising money to help pay for expensive dental treatment for a cat it is caring for.

Crystal, an eight-year-old tortoiseshell cat, came to the Lichfield and Tamworth Branch of Cats Protection following the death of her owner.

The volunteer fosterer who took her into their home noticed Crystal was struggling to eat properly and was dribbling a lot.

A trip to the vets for a check-up revealed that she had a build-up of tartar and needed several teeth extracted. She is now on the mend and looking for a new home.

The vet treatment cost nearly £500, which is why the branch is seeking donations to help cover the bill.

Sue Hocknell, welfare and neutering team leader, said: “Crystal is a friendly girl who likes a lot of fuss.

“At the moment she is a little stressed so is looking for someone who can give her a little time and patience.

“She would be best with a quiet household and possibly someone who could spend a lot of time at home with her.”

Anyone wishing to donate to Crystal’s treatment can [visit the online fundraising page](https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/lichfield-and-tamworth-catsprotection?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk).

Any money raised in excess of the fundraising target will be used to help fund the work of the Lichfield & Tamworth Branch of Cats Protection.
