A Lichield auction house has celebrated a bumper sale which saw almost 500 lots go under the hammer.

Bidders from around the world battled it out for items at Richard Winterton Auctioneers, including a 5ct diamond bar brooch which went for £4,900 and a diamond bracelet that made £2,100.

Buyers also took home an early fountain pen with Japanese decoration that sold for £7,000, an Omega Speedmaster wrist watch for £9,000 and a mid-19th Century Chinese silver snuff box that more than trebled its guide price by going for £1,150.

Elsewhere, five telephone bidders pushed the price of a seven-piece Angle-Chinese rosewood suite of chairs and settee up to £10,000.

A spokesperson for the auction house said: “This is another example that quality will always sell.”

The company’s next fine art sale takes place on September 19.
