A Lichfield author is asking people to ride the bus down memory lane to help him with his new book.

Bryan Yates is researching the history of Harper Bros bus company for his latest publication and is looking for members of the public who might remember the firm to tell him their tales.

The Harper Bros Story will tell the story of the company using historical records as well as personal memories from passengers and members of the workforce.

Bryan said he hoped to publish the book next year to coincide with what would have been the company’s 90th anniversary. He added:

> “I am looking for stories about the company or memories of trips that people may have gone on. Similarly any photos or paperwork will all add up to tell the story.”

Harper Bros was originally based in Heath Hayes and traded for more than 50 years before being bought out by Midland Red in 1974.

The book won’t be Bryan’s first piece of work based on transport. He has previously written about The Green Bus Company of Rugeley.

He explained:

> “I did a book a few years ago on the Green Bus Company of Rugeley (Whieldons) and so many people asked me to do another on Harper Bros, that I finally decided to agree and get on with it.”

Anyone with information on Harper Bros can contact Bryan via email on [b.yates@virgin.net](mailto:b.yates@virgin.net).
