Jim Cunningham, manager of Midlands Co-operative’s Lichfield foodstore presented the bears to Her Honour Judge Estella Hindley QC, His Honour Judge Martin Cardinal and District Judge Sally Dowding.

“Giving a child a teddy bear with which to start their new family life might seem like a small gesture but these bears will symbolise so much for these children and will become treasured keepsakes,” Estella Hindley QC explained. “We are very grateful to Midlands Co-operative for this kind donation.”

Mr Cunningham added: “We were delighted to be able to offer our support to such a worthwhile cause.

“Our Society stocks toys in a number of our larger stores across the Midlands so it wasn’t too difficult for us to round up a the bears.

“It is very heart warming to know that children starting this new and exciting journey will still have a furry friend to take along and we sincerely hope that both enjoy many very happy times with their new families.”
