Tempest Ford hand over the keys to the vehicle to the Whittington and Fisherwick Community First Responder Grou

A Lichfield car dealership has come to the rescue of a group of volunteer health workers.

Tempest Ford in Lichfield have supplied the [Whittington and Fisherwick Community First Responder Group](http://www.whittingtonandfisherwick.org.uk/cfr.shtml?a=3&ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) with a new vehicle to enable them to continue their work.

The group were about to lose their vehicle when the contract expired, but following a meeting with Brian Carruthers, chairman of Tempest Ford, the good work of the group can continue.

A new Ford Mondeo Estate has been kitted out ready for them to use.

Frank Bartlett, the leader of the Whittington and Fisherwick First Responder Group, said:

> “We need a car that is totally reliable and has the space to carry all our equipment, including a spinal board – this fits the bill perfectly.”

The Whittington and Fisherwick First Responders are a group of specially trained volunteers who attend emergencies where people have been injured or taken ill and they carry out first aid and reassurance until the ambulance arrives.

They have attended more than 500 calls since their formation in 2006 and provide a vital service to the people of Whittington and the surrounding area.
