LICHFIELD City's manager will look to take the positives from his side's opening day defeat when they return to action in midweek.

Matty Lovatt's men were beaten 4-1 at Lower Breck at the weekend as they began their Northern Premier League West Division campaign.

City sub Dylan Thomas had given his side hope of a comeback when he made it 2-1 just after the hour mark.

But two stoppage time goals from the home side condemned Lichfield to defeat.

Lovatt said:

> "It was a tale of two halves. I'm annoyed to have conceded two in injury time while looking for an equaliser, but am positive about our football and character in the second half."

Lichfield will look to get their first points on the board tomorrow (12th August) when they travel to Shifnal Town.

The hosts got their season up and running at the weekend when two Andre Landell goals earned them a 2-1 win over Clay Cross Town in the FA Cup.

Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
