Lichfield City showed they had six appeal as they destroyed Enville Athletic in the Midland Combination Second Division.

Goals from James Lawson, Jamie Shaw, Steve Payne and a Jon Rob Dutton hat-trick helped City record a 6-1 victory at Brownsfield Park, much to the delight of manager Dean Gilbert.

Gilbert said:

> “It was another excellent team performance. That’s three wins on the bounce now and has moved us up to fifth in the league.
>
> “I knew we had the ability to play good football and be a force at this level but it was just a case of making the players believe in themselves.
>
> “We could have won by a bigger margin. We had two goals disallowed, were denied what looked like two clear-cut penalties and also missed a few chances. It was a great result though and we’re all over the moon.”

Gilbert believes that Saturday’s result has sent out a warning to the rest of the league and revealed that a number of other clubs from the division had been in touch to congratulate his side on what was their biggest win of the season so far.

He added:

> “Saturday’s result has opened the eyes of not just my assistant (Andy McRobbie) and I as to what we’re capable of but I think it’s made other club’s stand up and take notice.
>
> “I received a number of text messages from other sides in the league congratulating us on our result, one particularly from Henley, who we have grown close ties to despite being competitors in the league.
>
> “Things are going well. Long may they continue.”
