Lichfield City FC’s hopes of causing an FA Cup upset were dashed by Leek Town.

Simon Bell’s men went into the game as underdogs against their Staffordshire rivals and they discovered why the higher level hosts had enjoyed a 100 per cent start to the season.

Leek flew out of the blocks as they blitzed Lichfield early on to secure a 4-0 lead.

Ahmet Bilgimer pulled one back for City before Leek added another to wrap up a 5-1 triumph.

The FA Vase is next up for Lichfield as they entertain Alvechurch on Saturday (September 9).
