Lichfield City FC’s new management team saw their honeymoon period end early after a 2-0 defeat against Stafford Town.

Gary Birch and Gavin Hurren had seen their tenure get off to a flying start with a 7-0 win in the Staffordshire Vase at the weekend.

But goals from Thomas Doody and Morgan Hurley saw the Midland Football League Division One strugglers claim all three points.

City will be desperate to halt their gradual slide down the table when they entertain Racing Club Warwick tomorrow (October 18).
