Councillor Mike Wilcox

**EXCLUSIVE:** Michael Wilcox is to become the new leader of Lichfield’s ruling Conservative Party.

The Alrewas and Fradley councillor was selected at a meeting this week, but his appointment as Leader of Lichfield District Council needs to be ratified at a full meeting in May.

He is set replace [Cllr David Smith](http://openlylocal.com/members/2502-David-Smith?ref=lichfieldlive.co.uk) who [announced he was stepping down](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2010/04/21/time-is-right-to-hand-over-to-the-next-generation-says-leader-of-lichfield-district-council/) as leader of the council after 11 years in the post.
