Michael Fryers

Michael Fryers had been the Conservative representative for the Chadsmead ward on Lichfield District Council.

However, he has now been stripped of his seat after failing to attend any meetings for six months.

Richard King, Strategic Director of Development, Democratic & Legal Services at Lichfield District Council, said: “The Local Government Act of 1972 states that if a member of a local authority fails to attend a meeting for six consecutive months they are disqualified from acting as a councillor.

“As Mr Fryers did not attend a council meeting for more than six months, he was automatically disqualified.

“Unless it is not contested, a by-election for the Chadsmead ward will be held in due course.”

His dismissal from the District Council follows [his resignation from Lichfield City Council in 2012](//lichfieldlive.co.uk/2012/08/29/by-election-in-chadsmead-ward-after-lichfield-city-council-pair-resign/), when he had been due to be forced to step down for failure to attend meetings.

At the time of publication, Mr Fryers was unavailable for comment.
