A LICHFIELD councillor has urged Reform UK to “draw a line” under a row over online posts by the leader of Staffordshire County Council.

Cllr Ian Cooper came under scrutiny after content from a series of social media accounts was highlighted.

It lead to nine Labour MPs calling for his resignation as a councillor.

Reform UK launched an “urgent internal investigation” over the “non-disclosure of social media accounts” – and then opted to revoke Cllr Cooper’s membership of the party.

Cllr Matthew Wallens, Lichfield City North’s Reform UK representative at Staffordshire County Council, said:

> “The best thing for Reform UK is to draw a line under this and move on.
>
> “I am not a racist anyone who knows me can see that. I respect the people I meet – and racism has no place in our party.”
